🤯🤩🙌🏽 TYSM for this post! And, in particular, emphasizing the importance of the desire/impulse to write over the length, timeline, or consistency of writing. 😭🥹
I’m so glad it was useful. I’ve never had a consistent writing routine but I know that I enjoy it a whole lot more when I follow that impulse rather than beating myself up about how much/how long I write.
Thanks Timothy. And oh yes, that state of hovering... you nailed it. I think often the temptation is to pull back and look at the broad view (i.e. planning, outlining, organising) but sometimes zooming right in to the minutiae is what helps me reconnect the most.
I continue to deeply appreciate that you say all the things no one else says - and they are important. So the bigger question is … why are the important things so rarely said?
Now I must run off to journal this question for myself. Thank you.
I enjoyed the physical where are you? Inspiration is everywhere even a chemist shop. I often find myself observing but not writing, These examples hit home.

Read your post and felt it — someone else is circling this.
That state where thinking wants to happen, but the tools are out of reach — set aside for "later".
You write from what's near.
That’s a different practice.
I respect it.
Thanks again.

Thank you, Paula. I hope the journalling sent you down a good rabbit hole... Let me know if you find the answers!

Observing is 90% of writing, I reckon! The last bit just scribbling things down…
Oooh, squirrel!
This post distracted me from writing - in a good way! Thanks, Jo. You made me smile and reminded me to set that timer and just, well, write!
Distracted from writing with MORE writing. Love it.
